Hi and welcome to my website, Playoff Fantasy. I have been an avid fantasy football player since 2003. I have always found it a fun way to compete with friends and have it add to my enjoyment of watching football. Now I want to help others learn more about it and to branch out into other fantasy sports in the process.

A Little Story About My Fantasy Journey

I started playing fantasy football in free public leagues on Yahoo in 2003. I drafted as many of my favorite players as I could and pretty much set my team and forgot about it. My team finished 4th out of 10 teams and I thought OK, that was cool I guess.

In 2008, I joined my first cash league with some buddies from work. I employed pretty much the same strategy, but I made a few moves during the season and starting reading the player notes and realized there was a real strategy behind this game. Man, I was hooked. And not just because there was money on the line. The bragging rights. The trash talk. That’s where the fun was at. I soon found that not only was there strategy but there was a ton of information out there and a plentiful amount of tools to help take my game to the next level.

It’s Skill (With A Bit Of Luck)

There are some out there who will tell you that success in fantasy sports is just luck – a crap shoot, if you will. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is an element of luck, yes, but your chances of winning are heavily determined by doing you homework – by knowing your stuff. Knowledge is power (and “dubs”). After all, you are PRETENDING to be the general manager of a sports team.

Any savvy team executive will have built a team with depth. Fantasy league championships are setup with good preparation and clinched with persistence and tenacity. The difference between a real GM and acting like one in a fantasy sense is that you do this day to day or week to week and you are pulling from all available players. So I want to help by offering some tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years and also take you with me as I learn about other fantasy sports.

The Intersection of Opportunity and Preparation

The first reason to play fantasy sports is to have fun. It’s easier to have fun, though, when you’re winning. I hope you have fun here. I hope you learn something. And I hope you win. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.
